James Wood senior middle hitter Ashlynn Spence signed to play volleyball for Shenandoah University in a ceremony at James Wood on Wednesday.
Spence ranked fourth in the area in blocks with 48 and also had 147 kills and 127 digs to help the Colonels to their second straight state title. Spence was a All-Class 4 Second Team selection and a Region 4D and Class 4 Northwestern District First Team pick.
The NCAA Division III Hornets went 8-20 overall and 2-10 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference last year.
Spence will major in business.
