VIRGINIA BEACH — James Wood junior Kate Konyar placed fourth in the 3,200 in a season-best time of 11 minutes, 3.62 seconds to highlight local performances at the three-day VA Showcase that concluded on Sunday at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
Other athletes who placed in the top 30 of their respective events for local girls were Sherando’s Mercedes Silver (seventh in high jump, 4-10) and McKenna Hardy (16th in high jump, 4-10, 23rd in long jump, 16-11.25).
Local boys’ athletes who placed in the top 30 were Sherando’s Noah Harris (fifth in high jump, 6-4); the Warriors’ 4×800 team of Jed Bell, Hatcher Smith, Tommy Miles and Ryan Maki (10th in a season-best 8:16.91); and James Wood’s Eli Clark (29th in 1,000, state-qualifying 2:37.36, second all-time at James Wood).
