James Wood advance in district cheer

WARRENTON — Liberty High School’s competition cheer team took first place, and both Sherando and James Wood placed in the top four to advance at the Class 4 Northwestern District championship at Fauquier High School on Wednesday night.

Liberty won with 216 points, edging runner-up Sherando (213) by three points. James Wood (2111/2) followed in third, and Kettle Run (205) claimed the final Region 4C berth.

Millbrook (196) placed fifth, host Fauquier (185) came in sixth, and Handley (130) took seventh.

The top four teams advance to the Region 4C championship at Riverside High School at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
