James Wood High School 16-year-old junior
Sport: Cheerleading
Parents: Jim and Angie Marcy. Hometown: Winchester
Nicknames: “Jules”
What do you love about cheerleading: Tumbling. I just think it’s fun flipping in the air.
Most memorable moment in cheerleading: Cheering with my sister Jamie last year, when we went to states. She was a senior, I was a sophomore. It was really good to cheer together and have her there. And it was an honor and a very proud moment to be at states with my team. (James Wood took third in Group 4A.)
Most embarrassing moment in cheerleading: Last year my face hit the ground after I did a tuck or something in a competition.
Three people you can have dinner with, dead or alive: Usain Bolt; it’d be cool to meet him, because he was the fastest guy on Earth. Lecrae; he’s a Christian rap singer who used to be involved in gangs, and then he got saved. He’s a good figure to look upon. And “Laura Ingalls” from “Little House on the Prairie”; she just has a cute personality, and we grew up loving that show.
If you could use a time machine, where/when would you go: I’d go back to the [1870s and 1880s] where “Little House on the Prairie” was set. It’d be cool to see how you lived without technology. It’s a simple style that’d be interesting to experience.
If you could go on a trip anywhere in the world, where would you go: Africa. It’d be interesting to see how different things are there compared to here, see what it’s like for them living without all the things that we have here.
Favorite teacher: Mrs. [Suzanne] Miller. She was my eighth-grade English teacher at Frederick County Middle School. She was really funny, fun to be around, and was a really good teacher.
Favorite athlete: [Gymnast] Gabby Douglas
Favorite team: Washington Redskins
Favorite movie: “The Chronicles of Narnia” series
Favorite TV show: “When Calls the Heart”
Favorite song: “Thunder” by Imagine Dragons
Favorite food: Shrimp
Plans after high school: I really want to look into physical therapy or athletic training. Something that has to do with sports and the body. Anything where I can interact with people through being athletic.
