CHEERLEADING - Colonels 4th in region

LEESBURG — No local schools will be represented at the Class 4 state competition after Sherando and James Wood came up just short at the eight-team Region 4C event on Tuesday at Riverside High School.

Only the top two teams on Tuesday qualified for the Class 4 state competition on Nov. 4 at Virginia Commonwealth University. Region champion Liberty (235.5 points) and second-place Riverside (231.5) grabbed those two spots.

Sherando was third with 218.5 points and James Wood recorded 201 points in taking fourth. They were followed by Kettle Run (197.5), Dominion (188), Heritage (180.5) and Park View (170.5).
