James Wood places five on state cheer teams

James Wood cheerleaders earned five spots on the VHSL’s Class 4 All-State competition cheer teams which were released Monday.

Senior Lauren Taylor and sophomore Madeline Walker earned First Team selections for the Colonels, who placed third behind champion Grafton and runner-up Riverside in the state championships at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Senior Danielle Ritter, sophomore Kelsey Beard and freshman Kassi Kulp earned Second Team selections.

The Colonels won the Class 4 Northwestern District title and finished second to Riverside in Region 4C competition.
