James Wood cheerleaders receive All-State accolades

Four James Wood cheerleaders were selected to the Virginia High School League’s Class 4 All-State Competition Cheer teams, which were announced on Tuesday.

Colonels senior Lauren Burkhamer earned First Team honors, while classmates Carlie Lemons, Jaydn Yost and Haven Yost were named to the Second Team.

The Colonels finished second in Region 4D, earning their first state appearance since 2018. They placed sixth in the Class 4 competition.

Class 4 champion Loudoun County swept the top awards with senior Aria Williams being named Cheerleader of the Year and Samantha Mancini being selected Coach of the Year.
