Cross Country: Oatlands Invitational

LEESBURG — Millbrook High School’s boys’ cross country team placed eighth overall at the 60-team Oatlands Invitational on Saturday.

Millbrook’s Tyler Cox-Philyaw paced the Pioneers, finishing 21st with a time of 16 minutes, 22 seconds. The Pioneers placed all five runners in the top 100 overall in the varsity ‘A’ race and their scoring five finished within a one-minute span.

Alec Schrank (45th, 16:44), Nathan Burgreen (92nd, 17:15), Israel Lockhart (96th, 17:18) and Max Bader (99th, 17:22) completed Millbrook’s team scoring. The Pioneers finished as the top area team with 342 points.

Battlefield won the boys’ ‘A’ race with 147 points.

Sherando, led by Ryan Hindle (139th, 17:44), was 37th, and James Wood, paced by Mark Bohler (105th, 17:26) came in 43rd.

James Wood freshman Sophia Dorsey led the way in the girls’ varsity ‘A’ race in 41st overall with a time of 20:09, leading the Colonels to 19th place out of 49 girls’ teams. Sherando, led by Katie Rogers (134th, 21:26), came in 37th.

Oakton won the girls’ ‘A’ race with 91 points.

Millbrook’s Nadia Dahimene finished third overall (20:23), leading the Pioneers to fifth place in the varsity ‘B’ race.
