Cross Country: Pioneers sweep Colonels

 

WINCHESTER — Millbrook High School’s cross country teams swept James Wood in a Northwestern District dual meet on Wednesday.

The Pioneer girls edged James Wood by one point, 27-28, placing all five runners in the top nine.

Millbrook sophomore Nadia Dahimene led the way in second with a time of 21 minutes, 45 seconds. Hannah Croyle (third, 22:22), Sophia Lee (fifth, 22:57), McKenzie Schrank (eighth, 23:57) and Lily Treiber (ninth, 24:48) completed Millbrook’s top five.

James Wood freshman Sophia Dorsey won in 21:27, and Brittany Arnold followed in fourth (22:35). Zoe Schopick (sixth, 23:11), Autumn Hottle (seventh, 23:43) and Jessie Clatterbuck (10th, 24:57) rounded out the Colonels’ scoring five.

In the boys’ race, Millbrook’s Tyler Cox-Philyaw (18:40) edged James Wood’s Luke Farinholt for first place by one second. Nathan Burgreen followed in third (18:48) for the Pioneers. Millbrook’s Israel Lockhart (fifth, 19:14), Alec Schrank (sixth, 19:17) and Max Bader (seventh, 19:22) completed the Pioneers’ top five. Millbrook swept fifth through 10th place.

After Farinholt, Mark Bohler placed fourth (18:54) for the Colonels. James Wood’s Max Lindquist (11th, 20:13), Jesse Evans (12th, 20:26) and Ben Marsh (13th, 20:56) rounded out Wood’s scoring five.
