Cross Country: Octoberfest

THE PLAINS — Millbrook High School’s boys’ cross country team placed eighth at the 36-team Octoberfest Invitational on the non-state course at Great Meadow on Saturday.

The Pioneers, led by freshman Alec Schrank in 25th place with a time of 17 minutes, one second, placed four of their five runners in the top 75 overall to finish with 314 points.

Schrank, junior Max Bader (48th, 17:27), senior Nathan Burgreen (69th, 17:41), and senior Israel Lockhart (74th, 17:43) all finished within 42 seconds of each other. Junior Cal Lockley (119th, 18:21) completed the Pioneers’ top five.

Battlefield won the boys’ race with 102 points.

In the girls’ race, James Wood freshman Sophia Dorsey placed 15th overall in 19:44, leading the Colonels to 15th place out of 35 teams. Senior Brittany Arnold (20:55), freshman Autumn Hottle (21:16), freshman Zoe Schopick (21:46) and freshman Jessie Clatterbuck (23:14) completed the Colonels’ scoring five.

Millbrook sophomore Nadia Dahimene finished 17th in 19:49, but the Pioneers did not have five runners to score as a team.
