Cross Country: Judges sweep Colonels
WINCHESTER — Handley High School’s cross country teams swept James Wood in a Northwestern District dual meet on Wednesday.
Handley’s Aaron Arslan won the boys’ race in 17 minutes, 55 seconds, and teammate Cole Talton finished as the runner-up just one second behind, leading the Judges to a three-point win over James Wood 27-30.
Adam Arslan (fourth, 18:46), Casey Marchant (eighth, 20:15) and Eli Bell (12th, 20:33) rounded out the Judges’ scoring five.
James Wood senior Luke Farinholt led the Colonels in third (17:57). Mark Bohler (fifth, 18:55), Max Lindquist (sixth, 19:39), Jesse Evans (seventh, 20:00) and Ben Marsh (ninth, 20:18) completed Wood’s top five.
In the girls’ race, Handley beat James Wood 26-33.
Ashden Personius finished as the runner-up (21:45) to pace the Judges. Nicole King (fourth, 22:24), Abby Swartz (fifth, 22:28), Ellie Selzer (seventh, 23:09) and Kelly Boppe (eighth, 23:17) completed the Judges’ top five.
James Wood freshman Sophia Dorsey took first overall, winning by 14 seconds in 21:31. Brittany Arnold (third, 22:10), Autumn Hottle (sixth, 22:42), Maria Harter (13th, 24:08) and Jessie Clatterbuck (24:33) rounded out the Colonels’ top five.
