Cross Country - Oatlands Invitational

LEESBURG — Sherando senior Trevor Whiteside placed 24th overall with a time of 16 minutes, 39 seconds to lead the Warriors to ninth place at the 58-team Oatlands Invitational on Saturday.

Whiteside led a Warrior top five that finished with a 1:25 split. The rest of Sherando’s top five — which finished within 35 seconds of each other — included senior Thomas Shea (68th, 17:31), senior Thomas Powars (87th, 17:43), junior Hayden Williams (116th, 18:00) and senior James Kelly (126th, 18:04).

Millbrook senior Tyler Cox-Philyaw (eighth) and junior Alec Schrank (10th) led the way among area runners, finishing with the same time of 16:17. Philyaw and Schrank led the Pioneers to 18th place with 586 points.

James Wood, led by junior Max Lindquist (92nd, 17:49), came in 34th.

Loudoun Valley senior Andrew Hunter won the race that included a field of 400 runners with a time of 15:12. Mount Tabor won the boys’ team title with 140 points, edging runner-up Thomas Jefferson S&T by three. Severna Park (170), Loudoun Valley (171) and Our Lady of Good Counsel (208) rounded out the top five.

In the girls’ race, Sherando freshman Camryn Ubert placed 25th overall (20:21) to lead the Warriors to 11th place with 370 points. Sophomore Paige Conner (61st, 21:13), senior Victoria Reese (90th, 21:37), freshman Olivia Couillard (95th, 21:40) and junior Gillian Liedke (146th, 22:19) completed the Warriors’ scoring five.

Millbrook, led by senior Nadia Dahimene (41st, 20:48), followed in 12th place with 405 points. Senior Hannah Croyle (45th, 20:54), sophomore Mellany Groll (69th, 21:19), freshman Kaycee Cox-Philyaw (119th, 21:57) and freshman Maddie Lloyd (181st, 22:46) rounded out the Pioneers’ top five.

James Wood junior Sophia Dorsey finished 33rd to pace the Colonels to 20th place with 581 points.

Heritage sophomore Weini Kelati won the girls’ race (that included 343 runners) in 17:11.

Walt Whitman won the girls’ team title with 183 points. Heritage (195), Albemarle (238), Bishop O’Connell (286) and Our Lady of Good Counsel (294) rounded out the top five in the 49-team girls’ meet.
