James Wood Girls Win Stampede Cross Country Title

ROMNEY, W.Va. — Kenzie Konyar placed fifth overall to pace James Wood’s cross country team to the team title at the Buffalo Wild Wings Stampede hosted by Hampshire High School on Saturday.
Konyar finished with a time of 21 minutes, 14 seconds to lead five Colonel girls in the top 25 overall at the 11-team girls’ meet.
Autumn Hottle (eighth, 21:35), Maria Harter (12th, 22:17), Sophia Dorsey (21st, 23:02) and Claire Bright (23rd, 23:09) completed James Wood’s scoring five. The Colonels won with 69 points, finishing eight ahead of runner-up Berkeley Springs (W.Va.) and nine clear of third-place Jefferson.
Hampshire’s Hannah Lipps won the girls’ race with a time of 19:54.
In the eight-team boys’ race, James Wood’s Max Lindquist finished fourth overall (17:48) to lead the Colonel boys to third place. Kevin Konyar (ninth, 18:19), Josh Arce (17th, 18:39), Bryce Ratlief (28th, 19:21) and Jacksen Costa (29th, 19:23) rounded out James Wood’s top five.
Jefferson won the boys’ race with 56 points. Southern Garrett (Md.) followed in second with 67, and James Wood (87) took third.
Southern Garrett’s Declan Horner won the boys’ race in 17:06.
