All-Area Girls' Cross Country Team
Kenzie Konyar
James Wood — Freshman
Konyar won the Conference 21 West championship (19 minutes, 46 seconds) at Kernstown Battlefield and qualified for state by finishing 17th (20:29) at the 4A West Regional at Kernstown. At the Group 4A state meet at Great Meadow in The Plains, Konyar earned all-state honors by finishing 10th with personal record time of 19:06 (also the fastest time on the state course by any area state-qualifier).
Clarke Co. — Sophomore
Webster turned in a strong sophomore season, winning the Bull Run District (19:38) and Conference 35 championships, and she finished as the runner-up in both the 2A East Region championship at Panorama Farms in Earlysville and at the 2A state meet (19:34, setting a personal record) at Great Meadow in The Plains. An all-district, all-conference, all-region and all-state runner for Clarke, Webster led the Eagles to sixth place in Group 2A.
Kenzi Fergus
Handley — Sophomore
Earning All-Conference 21 West and All-Region 4A West honors, Fergus was the conference runner-up (20:04) to help Handley claim the team title. She placed 13th (20:17) in the 4A West to qualify for the Group 4A state meet for the first time. At states, Fergus placed 59th. She set her PR of 19:28 at the Carlisle Invitational.
Mellany Groll
Millbrook — Junior
An All-Conference 21 West runner for the Pioneers, Groll finished fifth (20:23) at the conference meet at Kernstown Battlefield. She finished 49th in the 4A West Region. Groll set a PR of 19:52 at the Pioneers’ Third Battle Invitational.
Kristin Blake
Handley — Junior
Paige Conner
Sherando — Junior
Conner earned All-Conference 21 West honors by placing 15th (20:57) at the conference championship race at Kernstown Battlefield. She finished 45th at the 4A West Region championship at Kernstown. She set her PR of 19:32 at the Third Battle Invitational.
Kendall Felix
Handley — Freshman
In her first varsity season, Felix consistently ran in the Judges’ top three. She earned All-Conference 21 West honors by finishing sixth at the conference meet on the Judges’ home course at Kernstown, helping Handley win the team title. She finished 30th (21:08) at the 4A West meet at Kernstown. At the Hood Invitational, she set her PR of 20:13.
