Girls' Cross Country - Colonels' Konyar win at Central Invitational

WOODSTOCK — James Wood sophomore Kenzie Konyar took first place overall, and Millbrook placed all five runners in the top 30 to win the team title at the 10-team Central Invitational girls’ cross country race on Saturday.

Konyar won the three-mile race with a time of 18 minutes, 35 seconds, and Clarke County junior Madison Webster finished as the runner-up in 18:59.

Millbrook placed its top four in a tight pack in the top 15. Maddie Lloyd came in seventh (19:56) to pace the Pioneers.

The rest of Millbrook’s top five included Sophie Edlich (ninth, 20:13), Kaycee Cox-Philyaw (10th, 20:22), Mellany Groll (11th, 20:24) and Joanne Keenan (26th, 21:33).

Konyar led James Wood to third place. Haley Witt (12th, 20:30), Hayley Schwasta (33rd, 21:46), Kendall Pierce (34th, 21:49) and Abbey Esparza (39th, 22:05) completed the Colonels’ top five.

Webster and Skylar Bragg (sixth, 19:38) gave Clarke a pair of runners in the top 10 as the Eagles placed fifth.

Aria Montgomery (22nd, 21:20), Kateri Thorne (48th) and Maria Housey (49th) rounded out the Eagles’ team scoring. Two of Clarke’s top seven — Catherine Lewis and Maeve Lyman — did not compete.

Riverside came in second with 69 points. James Wood (104), Warren County (120) and Clarke (127) completed the top five.
