Former Wood runner Roni Frye honored

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Shenandoah University freshman runner Roni Frye was named the USA South Conference Rookie of the Week in selections announced Monday afternoon by the league office.
The James Wood High School alum led the Hornets to a third place team finish this past Saturday at the Salisbury Sea Gull Opener with a 23:22, fifth place individual showing in the 6,000-meter event. Over 90 runners competed in the event, including a full team from Messiah College, the No. 2 ranked team in the Mid-East Region.
Frye was top finisher among Shenandoah’s women.
The Shenandoah men finished fourth as a team at the Sea Gull Opener.
