Wood's Hawkins invited to race in Australia

WINCHESTER- James Wood junior Amber Hawkins will be taking her talents to Australia this coming summer.

The Colonels' track and field standout - who specializes in the distance events like the 3200 and the 4x400 relay - was selected to participate in the Down Under Sports Tournaments in Australia in early July of 2012.

The invitation-only event covers a variety of different sports and age groups and Hawkins will be competing on the East Central Conference Track and Field Team.

Current Millbrook senior Crystal Nelson participated in the event last year.
