Wood’s Lloyd verbally commits to Tech

Winchester — James Wood High School senior Andrew Lloyd has verbally committed to play football at Virginia Tech, the all-Region II placekicker and punter confirmed Thursday.
Lloyd doesn’t plan to sign during Wednesday’s National Signing Day, and he continues to receive calls from Division I programs almost daily. But he expects to join the Hokies next fall as a preferred walk-on, meaning he’d have a spot on Tech’s roster at the start of summer camp and likely a chance to compete for the starting job.
