Football: Late games added to radio

WINCHESTER — NewsTalk 1400 WINC has added three local rivalries to its broadcast schedule late this season.

The station will broadcast the Handley-Millbrook (Oct. 30), Millbrook-Sherando (Nov. 6) and James Wood-Handley (Nov. 7) games live.

WINC had previously scheduled to cover Sherando at Skyline on Oct. 30 and George Mason at Strasburg on Nov. 6.

“It’s been a priority to add these local matchups and especially to get the Colonels on the schedule,” station Sports Director Dave Wilson said in a statement.

James Wood previously had not been on WINC’s inaugural schedule.

Wilson will call the play-by-play of the games with former James Wood and Sherando coach Walter Barr adding color commentary.

The three added games are also scheduled to be broadcast by the Sportstalk 1550 team of Dan Gloster and Tim Mondell.

They will call the Handley-Millbrook and Millbrook-Sherando games on 98.3 KISS FM and the James Wood-Handley game on Sportstalk 1550 and Sportstalk1550.com.
