FOREST — After the first day of the two-day Group 4A state golf tournament a pair of local golfers sit atop the standings.

Sherando sophomore Brett Loy shot an even-par 72 and is alone in first place heading into today’s final round at the Ivy Hill Golf Club, while James Wood senior Roger Repasky carded a 1-over 73 and is in a two-way tie for second with a player from Jamestown.

“The rain held off during the day, but it was awfully muddy and the air was real heavy, so the ball wasn’t really traveling very far,” said Sherando coach Rob Wright. “But both Brett and Roger shot great rounds.”

Loy and Repasky will tee off in the same group today at 9:20 a.m. at Ivy Hill.
