Colonels, Judges tie for first in golf invitational
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — James Wood and Handley tied for the top honors at the five-team Berkeley Springs Invitational at the Cacapon Golf Resort on Thursday.
The Colonels and Judges each shot 175. Williamsport (188), Berkeley Springs (204) and Clear Spring (258) followed.
James Wood’s Tyler Mounts took medalist honors with a 4-over 40. Jacob Karen (43), Carson Baker (44) and Jackson Lynch (48) rounded out the Colonels’ scoring.
Andrew McIntyre led Handley with a 42. Braxton Duvall (43), Gregg Burton (44) and Cody Williams (46) completed the Judges’ scoring.
Eagles win quad
LURAY — Clarke County recorded a four-player score of 166 to defeat Stonewall Jackson (171), Central (198) and Page County (215) at Caverns Country Club on Thursday.
The Eagles’ Raul Viza-Fernandez and Zach Koontz each shot a 38 to finish in a three-way tie for second behind Stonewall Jackson’s Nick Dotson (36).
Other scoring golfers for Clarke County were Cameron Scheib (44) and Matt Williams (46).
