Golf Tie for 2nd in Skyline Tournament

Front Royal— Handley, James Wood and Clarke County all tied for runner-up honors with team scores of 324 at Tuesday’s Skyline Invitational at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club.

Ryan Rettberg fired a two-under 69 to take medalist honors and lead the host Hawks to a two-stroke victory.

Rettberg and teammate Zack Henry, who shot a 74, finished 1-2 overall to pace Skyline, which finished two strokes ahead of the Judges, Colonels and Eagles. Aubrey Wilkerson paced Handley with a 77 and was supported by Kyle Stickley (79), Will McHugh (83) and Danny Nolan (85). Dylan McKee led James Wood with a 79. Nic Cybulski and Kyle Hevner each shot an 81, and Corey Cochran fired an 83.

Zach Ramey paced Clarke with a 75. Kevin Wiseman (79), D.J. Pyatt (84), and Gus Callan (86) completed the Eagles’ scoring.

Freshman Chris Slater led with an 80 as Sherando tied for fifth place with a score of 333.

John Linder shot a 78 to pace seventh-place Millbrook (334).
