It's pretty rare that visiting athletes get the home court advantage at Shenandoah University's Shingleton Gymnasium. But Saturday, former James Wood setter Mackenzie Tingle was back in town as a member of the North Caroline Wesleyan volleyball team.

"Playing against a girl I played with for four years was a little different," noted Tingle of Emily Hoff, her James Wood teammate who now plays for Shenandoah.

In addition to going up against her former teammate, Tingle also had to face her former coach, Carla Milton, now an assistant at SU.

"It is a little difficult to see her on the other side of the court," admitted Milton after Tingle's Battling Bishops swept SU three games to none. "She's doing well and I'm happy for her."

The 2007 Northwestern district player of the year has had continued success at the college level; in fact, she’s already racked up Rookie of the Week honors in the USA South Conference.

"She's done a great job with the team," says Tingle's current Coach Robin Pietryk. "We've got the timing together; she's a huge part of our game."
