NOKESVILLE — The James Wood volleyball team opened up its 2012 season with a five-set (25-22, 23-25, 19-25, 25-16, 15-11) win over Kettle Run on the road Thursday evening.

The Colonels (1-0) rallied from a 2-1 deficit to pull out the victory.

Sophomore outside hitter Katie Houser finished with a team-high 16 kills, senior setter Emilee Payne totaled 24 assists and senior libero Kelby Jackson added 22 digs in the win.

James Wood next travels to take on Strasburg in a non-district match at 7 p.m. on Monday.
