2013 All-Area Volleyball Team

Ashley Hillyard — James Wood — Junior

Splitting time between setter and outside hitter, Hillyard totaled an area-best 534 assists, was second with 257 kills and also 271 digs and 53 aces. Hillyard was an All-4A North Region first team selection and both The Winchester Star Player of the Year and Northwestern District Player of the Year.

Ally Iden — James Wood — Junior

The leader of the Colonel defense, Iden was everywhere along the back line, finishing with an area-best 457 digs. She landed on the All-Northwestern District first team and helped James Wood return to the state tournament for the second straight season.

Lindsey Painter — James Wood — Junior

A transfer from Strasburg, Painter moved from middle to outside hitter and flourished in her first year with the Colonels. She piled up an area-best 381 kills, was an All-Northwestern District first team selection and a member of the All-4A North Region second team.

Kelsey Singhas — Sherando — Sophomore

Teaming up with freshman Mackenzie Cornwell, Singhas was part of a potent Warrior attack on the ouside. She led Sherando with 178 kills, added 19 aces and was an All-Northwestern District first team selection.

Liz Grove — Handley — Senior

Playing on a senior-laden squad, Grove was the consistent force along the outside for the Judges. She led Handley with a 217 kills, was an All-Northwestern District first team selection and was an All-4A North Region honorable mention.

Semefa Tettegah — Handley — Senior

A stalwart in the middle for the Judges, Tettegah filled up the stat sheet with 133 kills, 22.5 blocks and a team-best 265 digs. She landed on the All-Northwestern District first team and was an All-4A North Region second team member.

Alexis Zygmunt — Handley — Junior

Zygmunt didn’t receive some of the accolades of her teammates, but she was no less valuable to a Handley team that advanced to the 4A North Region Tournament. She totaled 144 kills, 253 digs and 40 aces and was an All-Northwestern District second team selection.
