James Wood Wins Opener In Volleyball

NOKESVILLE — The James Wood volleyball team opened up its season with a 17-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-19 win over Kettle Run on the road Tuesday.

The Colonels (1-0) welcomed back senior outside hitter Katie Houser, who totaled a match-high 31 kills to go along with a pair of aces after missing all of last season due to injury.

Fellow senior libero Ally Iden finished with 21 digs, setter sisters Ashley Hillyard (23) and Megan Hillyard (18) combined for 41 assists and sophomore middle blocker Taylor Heishman tallied three blocks in the win.
