All-Area Volleyball First Team

Katie Houser — James Wood — Senior

After missing her junior year with a foot injury, Houser returned in dominating fashion. She totaled an area-best 571 kills (second all-time in the VHSL for a single season) and 103 aces, to go along with 204 digs. Houser, who signed with the University of Notre Dame, was named the Group 4A, 4A North Region, Conference 21 and Northwestern District Player of the Year and is The Winchester Star Player of the Year.

Ashley Hillyard — James Wood — Senior

The reigning Northwestern District Player of the Year split time between setter and outside hitter and finished with an area-best 419 assists and was third with 212 kills. Hillyard, who will be playing for Radford University in the fall, was an All-4A North Region second team selection and first team Conference 21 and Northwestern District.

Ally Iden — James Wood — Senior

The top libero in the area and the captain of the Colonel defense, Iden amassed an area-best 488 digs. She was selected to the Northwestern District first team and was an Conference 21 second team member as she helped the Colonels reach the Group 4A state finals.

Savannah Yost — James Wood — Senior

A defensive specialist and starter for a Colonel team that went 26-5 and reached the Group 4A state finals, Yost was second on the team with 208 digs and 34 aces. She was a first team Northwestern District selection and landed on the Conference 21 second team.

Ashley Humphrey — Millbrook — Senior

Humphrey dominated at the net for the Pioneers, totaling an area-best 112 blocks to go along with 129 kills and a team-high 31 assists. Humphrey was a Northwestern District and Conference 21 first team selection and an All-4A North Region honorable mention.

Michelle Baker — Sherando — Senior

Despite missing a handful of matches, Baker was a force in the middle for the Warriors. She was third in the area with 51 blocks and second on the team with 158 kills. Baker landed on the Northwestern District and Conference 21 first team and was an All-4A North Region honorable mention.

Alexis Zygmunt — Handley — Senior

Zygmunt helpd lead the Judges back to the region tournament by totaling a team-high 188 kills to go along with 191 digs and 44 aces. She was an All-4A North Region second team member and was selected to the Northwestern District first team.
