WINCHESTER — Stephen Reaves has resigned after one season as James Wood’s head volleyball coach, according to a Frederick County Public Schools press release.
According to James Wood coordinator of student activities Craig Woshner, Reaves decided to step down on March 5 “due to a recent career change that will not allow him to continue coaching.”
Reaves was hired on March 13 last year to succeed Jill Couturiaux, who had coached the team from 2008-14. The Colonels 14-7 overall last fall and tied for second in the Northwestern District with a 5-3 record. James Wood’s season ended with a 3-0 loss to Millbrook in the Conference 21 West quarterfinals.
“We appreciate the work he did over the past year with our program and wish him success with his career,” Woshner said.
Woshner said James Wood will begin the process of finding Reaves’ replacement in the next several days, and that they hope to name a new coach in approximately four-to-six weeks.
