Shannon sets team record in Colonels’ win

Winchester — Emily Shannon’s school-record 25th kill of the match clinched James Wood High School volleyball team’s dramatic 3-2 victory (23-25, 25-12, 25-20, 21-25, 16-14) over Fauquier Thursday night.
The Colonels (6-4), who also received a school-record 54 assists from Carly Mullin, trailed 14-12 in the fifth set, but Megan Crabtree (16 kills) served out the match to lift James Wood.
Shannon added 31 digs and Mullin added four blocks and four aces. James Wood was also led by Hannah Tierney (seven blocks), Peyton Clark (four blocks) and Cady Shaffer (33 digs).
