Volleyball Tied for 2nd in Recent Polls

The Northern Virginia Daily Sports staff collaborated to create a top 10 volleyball list. Each staffer voted, with 10 points being awarded to the top ranked team, nine to the No. 2 team and so on. Numbers in parentheses indicate where each team was last week.
1. Strasburg (2), 10-1, 1-0 Bull Run -- Strasburg has won 10 matches in a row after losing to Sherando to start the season. The Rams will play district rival Rappahannock County tonight.
2 tie. James Wood (3), 7-4, 1-0 Northwestern -- James Wood had a solid win over Fauquier last week in five sets. The Colonels play host to Millbrook tonight in a big district matchup.
2 tie. Sherando (4), 7-5, 0-1 Northwestern -- The Warriors cruised past Millbrook in three sets last week showing that they will be a force in the district this season.
4. Millbrook (1), 10-2, 1-0 Northwestern -- Millbrook lost two out of three matches, before rebounding with a win over Musselman (W.Va.) on Tuesday. 5. Clarke County (5), 6-5, 1-0 Bull Run -- The Eagles are off to a good start in the district after a three-set win over Madison County on Tuesday.
6. Stonewall Jackson (6), 5-6, 1-0 Shenandoah -- The Generals beat Shenandoah County rival Central in four sets on Tuesday night. Senior Heather Stout leads the area in kills with 186.
7. Central (7), 4-6, 0-1 Shenandoah -- The Falcons have lost two matches in a row after winning four out of five. Central hosts Riverheads in another big district matchup.
8. Handley (8), 5-6, 0-3 Northwestern -- The Judges are off to a slow start in the Northwestern District as they continue to look for their first win.
9. Skyline (9), 5-5, 1-0 Northwestern -- The Hawks beat the Judges in five sets last week to start the district season off strong. Skyline plays at Sherando tonight.
10. Warren County (10), 1-11, 0-1 Evergreen -- The young Wildcats continue to struggle with a very tough schedule.
