What do you love about volleyball?: Just the team bond and how well I get along with the girls. And going to these tournaments — nationals for travel, or states for high school — is super fun.
Most memorable moment in volleyball: Winning states. (James Wood captured the first state title in program history last fall.) We had an amazing team last year. We all pretty much play travel, so we were all pretty good, and we knew each other from travel, so we were able to connect pretty quickly.
Most difficult moment in volleyball: Just knowing how to get past your mistakes and growing from that. Things like service errors, because that’s all you. It’s about mental toughness.
Three people you can have dinner with, dead or alive: [Former Southern Cal beach volleyball player and current Association of Volleyball Professionals player] Hailey Harward; I look up to her the most in volleyball. Jim Carrey; he’s super funny. I love his movies. And Kevin Hart; he’s super funny as well.
Biggest athletic influence: Hailey Harward. I went to watch her one time at Gulf Shores [in Alabama] because I was playing in a tournament down there. She just really stood out to me. She wasn’t the tallest (5 feet, 9 inches), but she had major hops. She was just all-around a great player and a great leader on the court.
Favorite teacher: [James Wood driver’s ed, health and physical education teacher] Ms. [Alyson] Burkhart. I have her right now. She just knows how to get along with us and knows how to make us laugh. She’s just awesome to be with.
Favorite athlete: Hailey Harward
Favorite team: USC beach volleyball
Favorite movie: “Varsity Blues”
Favorite TV show: “Zoey 101”
Favorite song: “Holy Roller” by Zach Bryan
Favorite food: Wings. I like them from Backseat [Bar & Grill in Winchester].
Worst thing you’ve ever eaten: A mushroom
Plans after high school: I plan to play indoor college [volleyball] as a libero, D1 for sure. I’m not sure where. And I want to be a vet. I grew up on a farm. I love cows, I love farm animals. I love to care for them.
