James Wood sweeps Charlottesville in region volleyball quarterfinals
WINCHESTER — James Wood dominated the first set and went on to sweep Charlottesville 25-4, 25-14, 25-12 in the Region 4D volleyball quarterfinals on Tuesday night at Shirley Gymnasium.
The Colonels (22-2) — the No. 1 seed in the North — will host No. 2 Millbrook (18-3) at 6 p.m. on Thursday in the semifinals, with the winner earning a state berth and advancing to Saturday's region final. The Pioneers defeated No. 3 Sherando in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
James Wood senior Hannah McCullough had her 1,000th career assist on the 11th point of the first set and finished with 13 assists and nine digs.
Charlottesville's season ends with a 7-14 record.
