BEALETON — James Wood improved to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the Class 4 Northwestern District by beating Liberty 25-12, 25-17, 25-10 on Monday.

Men’s golf: SU places eighth at Cardinal Classic

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Shenandoah University placed eighth out of 14 teams at the two-day Cardinal Fall Classic hosted by Catholic University that finished on Sunday at Black Rock Golf Club.

SU recorded a 28-over par score of 604 (294-310) on the par-72, 6,757-yard course. Shepherd won by 23 shots over runner-up Stevenson with a 15-under 561 (280-281).

The Hornets were led by Maddox Mallard (73-78 — 151, tied for 25th), JD Williams (75-76 — 151, tied for 25th), Louie Maniacci (73-79 — 152, tied for 31st) and Tanner Sadowski (73-81 — 154, 39th). Shepherd had three golfers (Morgan Dehoff, Trey Rios and Killian Donnelly) shoot 4-under 138 over two rounds to tie for first.
