Wood's Spaid repeats as Region 4D Volleyball Player of the Year
James Wood junior outside hitter Kennedy Spaid was named the Region 4D Player of the Year for the second straight season to highlight the All-Region 4D volleyball selections that were released on Thursday.
The Colonels’ Adrienne Patrick earned her third region Coach of the Year award in three years (one in Region 4C) after guiding James Wood to the Region 4D title on Wednesday with a 3-0 win over E.C. Glass. The Colonels have won three straight region titles and will continue their push for a third straight state title on Saturday when they host Dominion at 5 p.m. in the Class 4 quarterfinals.
Spaid has a team-high 363 kills this season with a .370 hitting percentage. She also has 241 digs and 54 aces.
Joining Spaid on the First Team are James Wood teammate Brenna Corbin, a junior outside hitter, as well as Millbrook senior outside hitter Berkeley Konrady and Handley freshman outside hitter Breeze Johnson.
Second Team selections include James Wood junior middle hitter Tenley Mattison and sophomore setter Kylee Plumb; Millbrook sophomore setter Paisley Cook and sophomore libero Kate Madden; Sherando senior outside hitter Helena Ritter; and Handley freshman setter/outside hitter/opposite Teagan Braun-Duin.
Honorable Mention selections include James Wood sophomore right side/outside hitter Kyla Wilhelm; Millbrook sophomore outside hitter/right side Aaliyah Green; and Sherando senior setter Amanda Ingrassia.
