The Winchester Star
WINCHESTER — Brent Bertschinger has finally found a home.
The former James Wood High School pitcher recently signed a letter of intent to play baseball at West Virginia University. Bertschinger, currently at Hagerstown Community College, will enroll at WVU in the fall of 2009.
Bertschinger, whose career has taken a winding path since having Tommy John surgery shortly after graduating from James Wood in 2007, said WVU is giving him an athletic scholarship that will cover approximately 70 percent of the cost to attend.
Bertschinger said he also received interest from Tennessee, Penn State and Maryland, but it wasn’t a hard decision for him to go to WVU.
