WINCHESTER — The massive snowfall that has hit the region continues to have an impact on the local high school sports schedule.

The Conference 21 basketball quarterfinals scheduled for Friday will now be played on Tuesday, the 4A North Region wrestling tournament at Eastern View High School will now be contested Sunday and Monday instead of Saturday and Sunday, and the 2A East wrestling tournament at Strasburg High School will now be condensed to a one-day format on Sunday after being slated for Saturday and Sunday action.

In Conference 21 basketball, Sherando and Millbrook will both host a doubleheader Tuesday, while each of James Wood’s basketball teams will be on the road.

The Sherando girls (13-6) will host Heritage at 6 p.m., and the Warrior boys (7-11) will follow with a game against Woodgrove at 7:30.

The Millbrook girls (18-3) will host Dominion at 6, and the Pioneer boys (6-15) will follow with a game against Heritage at 7:45.

The James Wood boys (11-10) will travel to Dominion for a 7 p.m. game Tuesday, while the Colonel girls (12-9) will travel to Woodgrove for a 7 p.m. game as well.

The semifinals for Conference 21 will be Thursday, and the finals will be Friday.

The Conference 23 basketball tournaments, which feature Handley, will begin Tuesday with first-round action, though the Handley boys (15-2) have a first-round bye and will not begin play until Thursday’s semifinals.

The top-seeded Judges boys will host the winner of Tuesday’s No. 4 Harrisonburg-No. 5 Louisa game in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Thursday. Should Handley win, the Judges will host the final at either 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. on Friday.

The Handley girls (4-13), seeded fifth, will play a first-round game at No. 4 Louisa County at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The winner will travel to face No. 1 Charlottesville in Thursday’s semifinals, and the final will be Friday.

In both Conference 21 and Conference 23, the two teams that advance to the final will move on to the 4A North Region Tournament.

The Conference 35 basketball tournaments, which feature Clarke County, will begin with first-round action Monday, though the Eagle girls (19-2) have a first-round bye and won’t begin play until Wednesday’s semifinals.

The top-seeded Eagle girls will play the winner of Monday’s No. 4 Page County-No. 5 Strasburg game in Wednesday’s semifinals at 7:30 p.m. at home. That game will follow the other Conference 35 semifinal game that will take place at 6 p.m. at Clarke County.

Should Clarke County win, the Eagles will host the final at 7 p.m. Friday. In addition, Clarke County has an automatic berth into the 2A East Region Tournament, because the four teams that make the semifinals will automatically advance for girls and boys.

The No. 6 Clarke County boys (12-10) will travel to No. 3 George Mason for a 7:30 p.m. first-round game Monday. The winner will face the winner of No. 2 Strasburg and No. 7 Madison County in Tuesday’s semifinal game, which will be played at 6 p.m. at Luray High School, the team that is the tournament’s No. 1 seed. The final will be played at the highest remaining seed at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The 4A North Region wrestling tournament will begin competition at 1 p.m. Sunday, and Monday’s action with championship semifinals at 11 a.m. Monday. The championship finals will begin at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

The 2A East Region wrestling tournament will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday. The finals will start at 6 p.m.
