Rain plays havoc with playoff schedule

Heavy rain has resulted in the postponement of numerous postseason events, as well as a change in venue for some postseason clashes.

Thursday’s Bull Run District track meet at Strasburg High School was postponed. No makeup date has been announced.

The Class 4 Northwestern District boys’ and girls’ soccer tournaments are still scheduled to open today, but only the Handley girls will play on their home field. Two girls’ games will be played at Handley. At 2 p.m., fourth-seeded James Wood will play No. 5 Liberty. No. 3 Handley will play No. 6 Millbrook at 4 p.m.

Both Sherando soccer teams will play at Shenandoah University. The third-seeded boys’ team will play No. 6 Liberty at 2 p.m., and the No. 2 girls’ team will play No. 7 Fauquier at 4 p.m. Anyone who attends either of these games will need to park in SU’s parking garage.
