All-Area Baseball First Team

Adam Whitacre — Sherando — Senior — Pitcher

Earning VHSL first team All-Group 4A and VHSCA 4A All-State honors as an outfielder, Whitacre led Sherando hitting .422 with 11 runs and eight RBIs. On the mound, he posted a 5-2 record with a 1.23 earned-run average with 52 strikeouts in 451/3 innings. He was a first-team pick in the Northwestern District and was named the Conference 21 and 4A North Region Player of the Year. Whitacre is also The Winchester Star’s Player of the Year. He will join Radford as a preferred walk-on next year.

Trey Braithwaite — Millbrook — Junior — Pitcher

Braithwaite led the area in victories, going 6-0 with 50 strikeouts in 42 innings pitched with 1.00 ERA. He earned first team All-Northwestern District, All-Conference 21, All-4A North Region honors. He was a VHSL All-Group 4A and VHSCA 4A second-team selection.

Cohen Kerns — James Wood — Senior — Catcher

A first-team selection in Conference 21 and a second-team pick in the Northwestern District, Kerns ranked second on his team hitting .339 with a team-best 15 RBIs and six doubles. He also scored nine runs and had one triple and one homer.

Eli Warren — James Wood — Junior — First Baseman

Earning first-team honors in both the Northwestern District and Conference 21, Warren hit a team-high .393 and ranked second on his team with 14 RBIs. He scored 13 runs and had five doubles, a triple and a home run.

Bruce Keenan — Millbrook — Senior — Second Baseman

A first-team selection in both the Northwestern District and Conference 21, Keenan batted .354 with 24 runs, 15 RBIs and seven doubles. He also had 12 stolen bases and earned second-team honors in the 4A North Region. He will play at Bucknell next year.

Alex Amos — Millbrook — Junior — Shortstop

Amos hit an area-best .453 with 15 RBIs and 25 runs scored and a team-best 18 stolen bases. He also posted a 5-2 record with 37 strikeouts and 0.82 ERA on the mound. He was named the Northwestern District Player of the Year and earned first team All-Conference 21 and All-4A North Region honors. Amos also earned first team All-VHSCA 4A honors and second team VHSL Group 4A all-state honors.

Trenton Burgreen — Millbrook — Junior — Third Baseman

Earning first team All-Northwestern District and second team All-Conference 21 honors, Burgreen hit .257 with 15 RBIs and 15 runs scored. He also had three doubles and a triple and 11 stolen bases. He also provided solid defense at both third base and shortstop for the Pioneers.

Conor Hartigan — Millbrook — Sophomore — Outfielder

Hartigan hit .375 with a team-best 23 RBIs and scored 22 runs with two home runs, seven triples, a pair of doubles and 13 stolen bases. He earned first team All-Northwestern District and All-Conference 21 honors and second team All-4A North Region honors.

Ryan Hartigan — Millbrook — Senior — Outfielder

Earning first-team honors in the All-Northwestern District, All-Conferene 21 and All-4A North Region, Hartigan batted .391 with a team-best 10 doubles, three triples, one home run, 22 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He ranked second on the team with 17 stolen bases. He earned second-team VHSL Group 4A and VHSCA 4A honors. He will play at Virginia next year.

Cody Santmyer — Clarke County — Senior — Outfielder

A second team All-Bull Run District pick, Santmyer led Clarke batting .414 with a team-high 20 RBIs and 22 runs. He tied with a team-high seven doubles and had six stolen bases.

Alex Dobry — Clarke County — Senior — Utility

Earning first-team honors in the Bull Run District, Dobry ranked second for Clarke batting .408 with 16 RBIs and 17 runs. He also led Eagle pitchers, posting a 4-3 record with a 2.75 ERA with 49 strikeouts in 481/3 innings.

Bryan Whitacre — James Wood — Senior — Utility

Whitacre posted a 5-1 record with a 2.76 ERA and finished tied with an area-best 53 strikeouts in 452/3 innings. He earned first team All-Northwestern District and second team All-Conference 21 honors.
