Vorous powers Colonels to win

WINCHESTER -- Cody Vorous had a career day on Saturday. The James Wood junior hit three home runs to lead the Colonels to a 17-7 win over Loudoun County in nondistrict baseball action. The game was called after six innings due to the mercy rule.

"I've never seen anything like it. It was real amazing," James Wood coach Jared Mounts said. "It was a windy day and he got the ball up and it went over the fence.

"When he went up the third time we were all saying what were the chances he would hit another one. It was a day he'll never forget."

Vorous hit two solo homers and one two-run dinger to finish with four RBIs. Brandon Sinecoff also had a homer and went 2-for-4 with four RBIs for the Colonels (6-3, 5-2 Northwestern). Tim Spore went 4-for-5 with two singles, a double and a triple for the Colonels.
