Colonels 6, Wildcats 2

WINCHESTER — Dustin Russell and Cooper Franks each pitched three strong innings to lead host James Wood past Warren County in a Northwestern District game Wednesday night.

Russell (3-0) struck out two, Franks fanned three, and Brock Lockart added a pair of punchouts in the seventh inning.

Tim Spore led the Colonels (8-3, 7-2 Northwestern) offensively, hitting two singles, driving in two runs and stealing two bases. Danny Cooper added a triple, an RBI and two runs scored.

Cody Hindman pitched the first inning and took the loss for Warren County (1-11, 0-8).

Matt Knox went 2-for-4 with a run scored to lead the Wildcats.
