WINCHESTER — James Wood scored 11 runs in the first two innings to beat Washington (W.Va.) in a non-district game Tuesday, the Colonels’ first win of the season.

Wood (1-4) was led by Erin McCarthy (three hits, three RBIs, two runs), Whitney Dennis (three hits, two RBIs, two runs), Morgan Sykes (2 for 4 with a triple, two runs, RBI), Morgan McCarthy (2 for 4, RBI) and Lauren Myers (1-4), who struck out a career-high 11 and allowed three earned runs, five hits and two walks in a complete game.
