WINCHESTER — Handley opened up Northwestern District play with a 2-1 home win over James Wood at the Handley Bowl Monday afternoon.

The Judges (2-1, 1-0) took a one-goal lead in the first half off a shot from Omar Trejo off an assist from Seth Bridgeforth in the 33rd minute and added an insurance score when Trejo fed Jay Fox in the 55th minute.

The Colonels (0-2, 0-1) got on the board on a goal from Colin Watts off a Chris Francis assist in the 60th minute but could not find the equalizer.

Michael Davis tallied three saves in goal for Handley and Cole Morris finished with nine for James Wood in the loss.
