James Wood rallies past Clarke County on Houser's hat trick

BERRYVILLE — James Wood senior Aidan Houser had a natural hat trick and assisted on another goal in a 4-1 non-district boys’ soccer victory over Clarke County at Feltner Stadium on Friday night.

Clarke County led 1-0 after Zephyr Leary scored in the 18th minute, and the Eagles led by that margin at the half.

Houser scored the next three goals in the 48th, 55th and 60th minutes, respectively, to put the Colonels on top for good. Houser also assisted on Misael Ortega’s goal in the 67th minute.

Daniel Sabia and Leonsio Reyes also had assists for the Colonels (2-0).

Colonels goalkeeper Ethan Russell made 14 saves.

James Wood outshot Clarke 25-13. Clarke goalkeeper Seth Mayo made 21 saves.
