Boys' Tennis: All-Area First Team

Parker Wilson
Handley — Senior
Wilson defended his Group 4A singles and doubles titles and helped the Judges win their first state title since 2005. Wilson went 23-5 overall in singles and teamed with Carter Watts to go unbeaten in doubles (20-0) for the second consecutive season. Was Conference 21 West singles and doubles champion and 4A West singles runner-up and doubles champion.
Nick Mueller
Handley — Freshman
Mueller couldn’t have had a better freshman season as he did not lose a match. Playing at No. 2 singles, Mueller went 18-0. He won 81.2 percent (220 of 271) of his singles games played. He also went unbeaten at doubles, teaming with Cole Pawlak to go 11-0.
Hayden Wilfong
Millbrook — Junior
Wilfong led the Pioneers to their first regional playoff berth as they placed second to Handley in Conference 21 West. Wilfong went 14-6 in singles and made the semifinals of the Conference 21 West Tournament. Went 15-4 in doubles with Zack Clark and earned a regional berth by finishing runner-up in the conference tournament.
Carter Watts
Handley — Senior
Watts turned in an outstanding final season and once again teamed with Parker Wilson to go unbeaten (20-0) to defend the 4A doubles title. Watts went 19-1 in singles play. Was Conference 21 West and 4A West doubles champion.
Cole Pawlak
Handley — Junior
Pawlak turned in an excellent season at No. 4 singles, posting a 20-1 record. He won 80.7 percent (221 of 274) of his games played. Teamed with Nick Mueller to go 11-0 at No. 2 doubles as the two won a remarkable 94.9 percent (94 of 99) games played.
Jack Volinsky
Handley — Freshman
Volinsky had a nearly perfect debut season. He was 21-0 in singles and won a team-high 86.5 percent (225 of 260) of his games played. He teamed with Will Niessner to go 9-1 at No. 3 doubles.
Tabor Thwing
Handley — Senior
Thwing went out in style in his senior season, going 22-0. He was second on the squad with an 86.3 winning percentage (227 of 263) of his games played. He won the clinching match in Handley’s 5-0 win over Midlothian in the 4A title match.
Evan Dokken
James Wood — Junior
Dokken had a fine season for the Colonels, who battled with Millbrook for the runner-up spot in Conference 21. Dokken went 13-5 in singles, advancing to the Conference 21 West semifinals. He teamed with Noah Borromeo to go 13-4 in doubles, advancing to the conference semifinals.
