James Wood High School 16-year-old sophomore
Sport: Tennis. Position: No. 1 singles and doubles
Parents: Abel and Heather Borromeo
Hometown: Born in Charleston, W.Va., and moved to Winchester around age 3
What do you love about tennis: I like that it's like a solo sport. You can work on your own game and you can't blame it on your team or anything like that. It's kind of all on you.
Most memorable moment in tennis: Last year, I played [Nathan Wiens] from Millbrook and he was supposed to be way better than me. I didn't win, but I put up a good fight. I think it was 8-6.
Most embarrassing moment in tennis: In a match, I just whiffed it and the ball went completely out of the fence.
Three people you can have dinner with, dead or alive: Bruno Mars, He just seems like a cool guy and I like his music a lot. Juice WRLD, he's probably my favorite rapper; Jesus, I believe in Jesus obviously and it just would be really cool to have a dinner with him.
What’s the best athletic advice you’ve ever received: My basketball coach [Zach Harrell] would always say, "In practice, that you've got to give 110 percent or else you're not going to play like that in the game." In tennis, I never really goof off. I always work on another aspect of my game.
If you could go on a trip anywhere in the world, where would you go: Probably Hawaii, just because the weather is like perfect there and it seems really beautiful.
Favorite teacher: Dale Root, he was an art teacher. He just taught you different perspectives and how to look at things in different perspectives. He was a cool guy.
Favorite athlete: Russell Wilson
Favorite team: Seattle Seahawks
Favorite movie: “Fast and Furious”
Favorite TV show: “Adventure Time”
Favorite song: “That's What I Like” by Bruno Mars
Favorite foods: Chocolate cake and steak
Plans after high school: I haven't really thought about any colleges, but I definitely want to go to college. I haven't really thought about anything I want to do yet. I have a YouTube channel that I'm trying to build. It's just my full name: JonahBorromeo. It just seemed really fun and I found out I was pretty good at it. I just started making videos and it kind of took off.
