Boys' tennis: Colonels' Lucas makes semis
WINCHESTER — James Wood's Josh Lucas, the No. 2 seed from the North Division, advanced to the semifinals of the Region 4D tournament at the Slaughter Tennis Pavilion on Monday.
Lucas knocked off Sherando's Greyson Foltz 7-5, 6-3 in the quarterfinals. He will face Salem's Drew Perez, the top seed from the South Division, in the semifinals on Tuesday. Also in singles, Handley's Jack Boye fell to top-seeded Sean Frank 6-0, 6-3.
In doubles action, Handley's top-seeded Ty Dickson and Carter Bessette topped fourth-seeded Lucas and David Hutchins 6-2, 6-4. The Judges will be back in action on Wednesday in the semifinals. Also Monday, Sherando's Foltz and Vishan Bhagat fell 6-1, 6-0 against Charlottesville's Frank and Arlo Pray.
