WINCHESTER — Katie Padgett scored twice, one on a penalty kick, and added an assist as second-seeded James Wood blanked Fauquier in the opening round of the Class 4 Northwestern District tournament on Friday.

The Colonels (13-3-1) will host No. 3 Sherando (12-4-1) at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the semifinals.

Leaders — James Wood: Maddy Myers 1 goal, Abby Ensogna 1 assist. Sadie Kerns 8 saves for shutout, her school-record ninth this season, in goal.

Friday's score: No. 4 Kettle Run 3, No. 5 Liberty 0. Kettle Run will play at No. 1 Handley at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in the semifinals.
