Judges, Colonels to face off in doubles final

FRONT ROYAL — Defending Group AA doubles champions Jessie Nolan and Kathryn Bock of Handley will face No. 3 seed James Wood (Fae Schweitzer and Ashley Hillyard) in today’s final after each won their doubles semifinals matches Thursday at Skyline High School.

Handley won 6-0, 6-0 over No. 4 Millbrook (Jenny Beasley and Saelyen Kim) while James Wood upset No. 2 Skyline with a 7-6 (7-2), 1-6, 6-4 decision. The doubles final will be at 6 p.m.

The singles final will feature defending district champion and top seed Nolan (a 6-0, 6-2 winner over No. 4 Schweitzer) against No. 2 Presley Rutherford of Skyline, a 7-6 (11-9), 6-4 winner over No. 3 Beasley of Millbrook. The singles final be at 4 p.m.
