Girl's Tennis Preview

The Colonels return four of their top six from last year's squad, which finished second in the Northwestern District. James Wood will once again be led by senior Kari Pope and sophomore Headley Wilson at the top of the lineup. The pair won the Group AA individual doubles title last year.
The Colonels also return seniors Brooke Buckley and Amber Knox. Joining the top six this year will be junior Erika Basque and sophomore Supretti Sharma. Last year the Colonels went 13-5, losing in the Region II quarterfinals to Western Albemarle.
"We're going to try and build on what we did last year and show that last year wasn't a fluke," James Wood coach Rob Haskiell said. "The kids have been working really hard in the offseason, taking a lot of lessons and playing competitive matches. They've done what needed to be done in the offseason."
