WINCHESTER — James Wood dropped only 12 games in defeating Clarke County in the season opener for both teams on Friday.

James Wood (1-0) singles winners against Clarke County (0-1) were No. 1 Megan Hillyard (8-2), No. 2 Taylin Crosen (8-1), No. 3 Carlee Gosline (8-1), No. 4 Morgan Burner (8-1), No. 5 Courtney Dyer (8-3 over Barbara Fairbanks) and No. 6 Katelyn Harris (8-2).

In doubles, Hillyard-Crosen won 8-1 at No. 1, Gosline-Burner won 8-0 at No. 2 and Harris-Dyer won 8-1 at No. 3.
